Born from a General Motors bearing division’s engineering work in 1968, AirStar Bearings manufactures hydrostatic separator rolls in Sandusky, Ohio. The company’s AirStar air bearings use a distinctive carbon-against-carbon interface and are built for textile machinery, particularly synthetic-yarn extrusion and drawing applications. AirStar says its rolls have been engineered and manufactured locally for more than 45 years and that it is one of the largest independent separator-roll manufacturers in the United States.
