American Axle & Manufacturing (AAM), founded in Detroit in 1994, designs, engineers, and manufactures driveline and metal-forming technologies for electric, hybrid, and internal-combustion vehicles. The company describes a global operation with nearly 75 facilities in 15 countries and produces automotive systems and components such as axles and electric-drive units. On February 3, 2026, its parent company Dauch Corporation completed the acquisition of Dowlais Group and its GKN Automotive and GKN Powder Metallurgy businesses.
