From its Brooklyn workshop, Atelier Viollet creates custom furniture around exotic materials and rare woods, pairing simple forms with finishes crafted by artisans. The studio has mastered finely tanned parchment over 30 years and is known for its demanding straw marquetry work; in 2008, Sandrine Viollet won France’s “One of the Best Craftsmen in France” title for the technique after 1,500 hours of work. Projects are developed closely with designers, architects, and clients, who can visit the workshop as a piece takes shape.
