Founded in 1991 by former Ampex technical service representative Mike Spitz, ATR Service restores, rebuilds, and upgrades Ampex ATR-100 series professional tape recorders. The Newcastle company combines an in-house toolroom and extensive component inventory with modern calibration methods to support recording studios, sound archives, and audiophile listening systems. Since new ownership under Andrey Kosobutsky in 2023, ATR Service has also developed its own calibration equipment and recorder upgrades while preserving the classic ATR sound.
