Bank Negara Malaysia is Malaysia’s central bank and a statutory body that oversees key parts of the country’s anti-money-laundering and counter-terrorism-financing regime, including financial intelligence, enforcement and supervision of reporting institutions. Established on 26 January 1959 and governed by the Central Bank of Malaysia Act 2009, it also hosted the 2017 International Financial Intelligence Units’ Codeathon and organised the 2023 AML/CFT Hackathon with the regional Financial Intelligence Consultative Group.
