Founded in 2003, BH Sensors engineers, manufactures, and licenses customized sensors and sensing systems built around patented non-contact electromagnetic-field technology. The Pomona, New York company uses a clean-sheet “whiteboard approach” rather than off-the-shelf designs, tailoring sensors for demanding industrial and commercial applications. Its technology is also prequalified by the U.S. Department of Defense and has been applied to naval and other military systems.

• Spectron SensorsSince its founding in 1947 as Spectron Glass Laboratories, Spectron Sensors has built its identity around American-made sensor engineering in Long Island, New York. The company first produced neon signs before shifting to electrolytic tilt-sensor work for Sperry Gyroscope in 1948, then developing proprietary technology for demanding aerospace, military, and industrial applications. Its staff works directly with customers’ engineers on custom sensing solutions, including equipment designed for extreme environments.HAUPPAUGE, NY
• Sensaras LLCFounded in 2013, Sensaras LLC designs and manufactures ultrasonic liquid-level sensor systems from Long Island, building on ultrasonic expertise that began in the region in the 1970s. The company develops customized sensors for demanding applications, including semiconductor chemical monitoring and military programs, and has earned multiple military contracts since 2014. Sensaras moved into a new facility in 2019 and powers its operation with solar panels that can also send electricity back to the grid.BOHEMIA, NY
• Stellar TechnologyWith roots in aerospace, Stellar Technology designs, manufactures and services custom-engineered sensors from its Amherst, New York, operation. The roughly 30-year-old U.S. manufacturer works from nearly 80,000 square feet of environmentally controlled engineering, manufacturing and machining facilities, with custom applications as a particular strength. Its quality system is certified to ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100D.BLACKLICK, OH
• Nokomis IncFounded in 2002, Nokomis Inc. is a Charleroi, Pennsylvania technology company known for applying electromagnetic expertise to difficult defense and electronics-security problems. It develops sensors and technology solutions for customers including the armed forces, with a 50,000-square-foot headquarters and laboratory facility supporting its in-house research and manufacturing work. Nokomis has executed more than 150 contracts and built an intellectual-property portfolio of nearly 50 patents.CANONSBURG, PA
