Born from Carnegie Mellon University research and based in Pittsburgh, Blade Diagnostics develops diagnostic systems that use vibration data to assess aircraft-engine blades and other critical rotating equipment. Founded by Carnegie Mellon engineering professor Jerry H. Griffin, the company has spent more than 20 years turning research on mistuning and high-cycle fatigue into practical tools, including its SmartBlend® overhaul platform and VibratoryDNA® analytics. Its technology is used by the U.S. Air Force and industry partners to identify damage early, validate repairs, and extend the service life of expensive rotating components.
