BLOCKsynop develops the Neural Blockade Monitor, a noninvasive device designed to give anesthesiologists objective, real-time measurements of regional nerve-block effectiveness. Established after CTO Wayne Sternberger received the inaugural Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory Archimedes Award in 2020, the company grew from collaboration between systems engineering and pediatric anesthesiology. Its second-generation prototype has been validated in studies involving adult and pediatric anesthesia, while remaining investigational and not approved for sale in the United States.
