Founded in 1942 to supply impregnated activated carbon for military protection, Pittsburgh-based Calgon Carbon Corporation manufactures activated carbon and related purification systems for liquid- and vapor-phase applications. Its carbon technologies serve more than 700 applications, while its reactivation program recycles spent carbon and its technical teams support treatment projects from the company’s Innovation Center and global network. Calgon Carbon employs approximately 1,750 people and has operated as a wholly owned Kuraray subsidiary since 2018.
