Tracing its roots to Israel Hershman’s 1887 horse-and-wagon recycling operation in New Haven, Canusa Hershman now trades recyclable commodities and other raw materials while managing supply chains around the world. The company grew through the 2002 merger of the Hershman family business and Canusa Corporation, and today moves more than one million tons of recovered materials each year alongside plastic resins, packaging papers, and pulp alternatives. Its environmental history includes FSC® Chain of Custody offerings, a LEED®-certified headquarters, and charitable giving that has continued since 1981.
