Powered by cartoonists Shannon Spence and Maddie Sackett, CART Press is a Brooklyn independent small press that creates handcrafted zines and ephemera for artists and small publishers. The duo pairs a DIY printing-press sensibility with collaborative production, using unusual touches such as cutout and clear covers, sparkly finishes, and mixed printing methods to bring comics and other zines to life. CART Press also publishes and distributes selected titles, including work from the Comix Accountability Club.
Clatter PressClatter Press is a sibling-run Columbus project led by professional graphic designers Dempsey and Nigel Ewan, both graduates of Columbus College of Art & Design. Their interest in making unique printed objects in small quantities has grown into a collaborative Risograph studio working with artists and designers.
Forage Paper CoFounded in 2015 by illustrator Christina Chun, Forage Paper Co. creates whimsical stationery and paper goods that turn hand-painted scenes of nature and everyday life into cards and thoughtful gifts. Rooted in the New York metropolitan area, the company prints and hand-assembles every product in its U.S. studio, and its work is now carried by more than 250 retailers worldwide. Chun’s illustration background includes work for The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, Stanford University, and two published children’s books.
CatPrintCatPrint turns artists’ and designers’ files into custom printed pieces, with a particular foothold among illustrators, anime and comic artists, and convention vendors. Based in Fairport, New York, the company offers no-minimum ordering, free hard-copy proofs, and distinctive finishes such as holographic effects and real foil printing. Moontree LetterpressAlong the Delaware River in Bucks County, Moontree Letterpress is an independent printshop where designer and printer Rebecca Kutys hand-prints personalized stationery and other paper goods on antique presses. For over 20 years, the studio has also collaborated with artists, museums, and institutions on special projects that explore the possibilities of letterpress. Its paper-casting work gives cotton-paper scraps a second life as tactile reliefs made with traditional wooden molds.
