Case Aeronautics Team is CWRU's aeronautics design team. The team designs and builds RC planes for the annual AIAA Design Build Fly competition.
Design Build Fly @ JHUJohns Hopkins University’s Design Build Fly team designs, builds, and flies a new radio-controlled aircraft each year for the AIAA Design/Build/Fly competition. The student-run group’s 2026 aircraft was its first fully carbon-fiber design, made with a custom CNC hot-wire cutter and in-house g-code software, and helped the team place 17th among 175 competitors. Revived in 2024, the program has steadily advanced from a 4-pound foamboard plane to a 14.5-pound aircraft capable of 65 mph.
Case Rocket TeamCleveland’s Case Rocket Team is Case Western Reserve University’s undergraduate aerospace design team, building and flying high-power rockets for nationwide competitions and aerospace events. Open to students from every major and skill level, the team has reached the Spaceport America Cup podium and set a team altitude record above 24,000 feet. Its work also gives members hands-on experience in composite manufacturing, propulsion, recovery systems, and National Association of Rocketry certification.CLEVELAND, OH
Cornell Rocketry Project TeamSince 2012, Cornell Rocketry Project Team has given Cornell students hands-on aerospace experience by designing, assembling, and launching high-powered rockets for the Spaceport America Cup. A 50-member, six-subteam team, it builds a new rocket from scratch each year, including in-house hybrid motors and guided descent systems. Its 2025 rocket, Andromeda, reached 12,100 feet on a test flight and earned third place in the competition’s 10K Hybrid SRAD category.ITHACA, NY
CWRU MotorsportsCWRU Motorsports is a student-run Case Western Reserve University engineering team that designs, builds, tests, and races single-seat off-road vehicles for Baja SAE. Its current SR25 vehicle was developed over nine months and brings a new four-wheel-drive system, larger 23-inch tires, and custom components made in-house. The team combines hands-on vehicle engineering with project management and competition, earning first place overall performance at the 2023 Baja SAE Ohio event.CLEVELAND, OH
