From downtown McConnelsville, Contraxx Furniture makes custom hospitality furniture through a hub-and-spoke network of more than 45 family-owned American factories. Founded in 1996 by Mike Workman, the company coordinates independent craft shops with two finishing and assembly factories to build furniture made entirely in the United States for hotels, restaurants, resorts and other hospitality spaces. Contraxx says its network has helped create more than 5,000 skilled American jobs while preserving the character of small-town manufacturing.

• BeachleySince 1887, Hagerstown-based Beachley has crafted custom American-made commercial furniture and millwork for corporate, hospitality, and institutional spaces. Working from architectural drawings or even a rough sketch, its millworkers, upholsterers, and finishers build each project to address design challenges that standard production furniture cannot.
