Founded by Chattanooga-born electronics hacker Andrew Reed, Cosmos Pioneering makes the Cosmoneer, a programmable desktop spacecraft simulator that brings spacecraft design and mission challenges within reach of classrooms, makerspaces, and home workshops. Its spherical, hackable platform uses open-source hardware and software to mimic spacecraft systems in a simulated zero-gravity setting, letting users build and program missions without the cost or risk of an actual launch.

• ArgotecFounded in Turin by David Avino in 2008, Argotec designs, builds and operates small satellites for Earth orbit and deep-space missions, while also developing human-spaceflight solutions and related space services. Its SpacePark headquarters in San Mauro Torinese is an in-house satellite factory spanning more than 11,000 square meters, with capacity for over 50 satellites a year. • Operation SpaceFounded in May 2018, Operation Space designs and builds rockets through a nationwide, remotely coordinated team of college students. Unlike university-bound rocket projects, it brings students from different schools together around collaboration rather than competition, with the goal of proving what young people can accomplish through a highly technical launch. • Saturn Flight SimulatorSaturn Flight Simulator is developing a patented flight-training simulator built around unrestricted 360-degree yaw, pitch and roll rotation, plus linear heave motion. Based in Hicksville, New York, the company is in the engineering and architecture phase for a prototype intended to reproduce flight paths that conventional simulator designs cannot. Its planned system is configurable from light single-engine aircraft through heavy multi-engine and combat-training applications, with FAA and other agency certification being pursued.
