Born from a Massena, New York, logging business started by Patrick Curran and his brothers in 1976, Curran Renewable Energy manufactures wood-fuel pellets and other renewable wood products from North Country timber. The family-owned and operated company grew out of its sister logging operation and has more than 100 employees across the group, giving it control over the wood species and feedstock used in its pellets. Established in 2009, its pellet plant was the first biomass facility in North America to earn FSC certification, and its fuel is also PFI premium-grade certified.
