Founded in 2019 by three engineers, Ecotone Renewables is a Pittsburgh public benefit corporation built around the idea that food waste should stay useful rather than fill dumpsters. The founder-led company helps commercial kitchens and institutions handle scraps on site, with its service team managing the equipment and turning the resulting material into liquid fertilizer. Its work has diverted more than 1 million pounds of food waste and supported 14 operating ZEUS units.
