Pittsburgh-based Efficient Computer develops energy-efficient general-purpose processors and the software tools that run them, led by the Electron E1 and its companion effcc Compiler. Its Fabric architecture uses spatial dataflow to keep computation close to data, bringing accelerator-like efficiency to programmable devices such as remote sensors, wearables and autonomous systems. Founded by Carnegie Mellon University professors Brandon Lucia and Nathan Beckmann alongside Graham Gobieski, the company pairs semiconductor development with browser-based engineering tools through Efficient Labs.
