Since 1965, Federal Stone Industries has hand-made precast concrete pool coping at its Emmitsburg factory, building a specialty around the stone edge that finishes and protects a swimming pool. The family-owned company spans three generations and produces roughly 85,000 to 110,000 coping stones each year, with an in-house mold shop for custom work and a radius chart it invented to simplify curved-pool layouts. Its coping has also found an unexpected audience among skatepark builders and DIY skateboarders.
