Founded in 2017 by five energy-storage veterans, Form Energy develops and manufactures iron-air battery systems designed to store electricity for up to 100 hours and support a reliable electric grid. Its 550,000-square-foot Form Factory 1 occupies the former Weirton Steel site in West Virginia, linking the Ohio Valley’s manufacturing heritage to a new generation of grid technology. The company employs nearly 1,000 people across facilities in West Virginia, Massachusetts, and California.
