Gene & Boots Candies is a family candy maker founded in 1930 by Gene Madigan and his friend nicknamed Boots, beginning as a Charleroi shop selling popcorn and salted peanuts before developing its chocolate-making business. Now in the third generation of the Madigan family, the company continues to use many of its early formulas and sells candies including its popular assortments.
