Ginger Cakes Bake Shoppe grew from Meg Cooksey baking a friend’s wedding cake in a Florida hotel kitchen in 2012 into a farmers-market bake shop serving Fairfax County. The shop makes baked goods for special occasions or everyday treats, working closely with customers on custom orders and using locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. After starting at the Romney Farmers Market, Ginger Cakes moved to Fairfax County markets in 2016.
Flour & Sugar CakeryInspired by her grandmother’s holiday baking lessons, Cranberry Township native Andrea Lutz runs Flour & Sugar Cakery in Seven Fields, making custom cakes and small-batch treats from scratch. Cakes to CrumbsBorn from a sister’s lovingly made wedding cake, Cakes to Crumbs is a North Potomac cottage-law bakery creating custom cakes, cupcakes and other baked goods for special occasions. The bakery was founded in 2008 in honor of Lista, who taught its creator the craft while undergoing chemotherapy, and each made-to-order cake continues that personal legacy.
