Since 1951, York’s Guildcraft Foam has shaped expanded polystyrene into reusable Styrofoam cake dummies for pastry artists, while also making replacement foam cushions. The small company grew from furniture-industry piece parts into a maker known for custom-ordered shapes and sizes, including its distinctive cake-pan-inspired forms. Guildcraft became independent in 1976, and the Dephtereos family later became its sole owners before a generational change in the late 1990s.
