Independent Protection Co. has manufactured structural lightning-protection equipment and systems in Goshen, Indiana, since 1934. Founded by Earnest C. Cripe after the earlier Cripe Lightning Rod Company, it is the nation’s oldest continually operated lightning-protection manufacturer, with the fourth and fifth generations of the Cripe family now involved in the business.
