Formed in 1982 by 11 local apple-growing families, Lake Ontario Fruit stores and packs fresh apples from Western New York orchards. Its Albion operation has more than 1.3 million bushels of controlled-atmosphere and cold-storage capacity and packs over 1 million bushels each year for more than 30 local farms. With more than 90 peak-season employees, the company is also one of Orleans County’s largest employers.
