Founded in 2022 from University of Dayton photonics research, Dayton-based Nabu Optical Systems develops maskless optical lithography tools for semiconductor prototyping and production. Its platform uses virtual masks to combine projection lithography’s speed with direct laser writing’s flexibility, serving startups, research institutions and smaller chip manufacturers that need a more accessible path to fabrication. The company won the startup competition at the 2025 International Conference on Electron, Ion, and Photon Beam Technology and Nanofabrication.
