With roots reaching back to American Instrument Company’s 1919 opening in Silver Spring, Newport Scientific makes high-pressure equipment and humidity-measurement systems from its Jessup, Maryland operation. Its Superpressure division carries a product line founded in 1923, while Hygrodynamics continues to use the Dunmore Hygrosensor in dew-point monitors and related instruments. The company also acquired the Harwood Engineering product line and supports its equipment with NIST-based calibration services.

Meriam Process TechnologiesStarted by Joseph Meriam with his wife and children as the workforce in a 1911 garage operation, Meriam Process Technologies manufactures pressure and flow measurement instrumentation along with test and calibration equipment. The company’s original U-tube manometers grew into a broad process-measurement business, including digital manometers and its MFC5150 HART communicator, which reads device descriptions without translations or subscriptions. Meriam is now a Western Enterprises company and remains part of the Scott Fetzer Company heritage described in its history.CLEVELAND, OH
