Columbus-based pH Matter develops and manufactures carbon-based materials and catalysts for fuel cells, batteries, electrolysis and other emerging energy applications. Co-founded by Paul Matter and Chris Holt, the company combines materials research with electrode processing, electrochemical testing and commercial-scale production. Its catalyst work has earned U.S. Department of Energy recognition, and in 2024 pH Matter received $7.2 million in DOE funding to scale fuel-cell materials for heavy-duty transportation and hydrogen generation.
