Founded in 1993 by former Navy engineers Ron Minor and Brian Edwards, La Plata-based protoCAD turns product ideas into engineered designs, 3D-printed parts, and urethane castings. The co-owners’ early experience using 3D printing to design an ejection-seat rocket motor nozzle still informs the company’s work with inventors, manufacturers, and government customers nationwide. protoCAD is a small-business, ITAR-registered operation whose all-U.S.-citizen engineering team also supports complex government prototyping and fabrication projects.
