Brooklyn-based Pvilion designs, manufactures and installs fabric structures that generate electricity by integrating flexible solar cells into materials such as canopies, tents and architectural facades. Incorporated in July 2011 as an independent spin-off of FTL Solar, the company grew from a collaboration among electrical engineer Colin Touhey, lightweight-structures designer Todd Dalland and architect Robert Lerner. Its work traces back to the first photovoltaic tent developed by Dalland and Lerner more than 20 years ago and now includes rapidly deployable systems for settings ranging from public landscapes to military operations.
