River Valley Boards makes one-at-a-time, handcrafted cutting and charcuterie boards from Pennsylvania Black Walnut and food-grade resin, turning functional kitchenware into distinctive pieces of usable art. The Drexel Hill maker began producing furniture in 2002 and started making boards commercially after creating its sixteenth board in 2023, drawing on woodworking lessons learned from its grandfather, Saint Louis furniture maker Bert Breher. Its food-safe beeswax and jojoba-oil sealer is made in small batches, while resin colors are mixed by hand and packaging is designed to be recyclable or reusable.
