Since 2014, South Side Family Farms has been a family-led community farming effort rooted in Columbus’s South Side, founded by Minister Aaron and Antoinette Hopkins after 35 years of living and raising their family in the neighborhood. Its urban gardens grow fresh food for underserved residents while creating places where neighbors learn about growing and caring for their health. The farm’s work is shaped by faith, food justice, and the Hopkinses’ focus on passing agricultural knowledge to younger generations.

Toledo GROWsFrom a three-acre urban farm in the heart of Toledo, Toledo GROWs helps community members create and sustain gardens across the city and surrounding area. The grassroots organization supports more than 105 school, neighborhood, faith-based and nonprofit gardens with practical guidance, seasonal supplies and learning opportunities. ECO City FarmsECO City Farms is a nonprofit urban teaching and learning farm in Prince George’s County that grows organically produced food while training the next generation of urban farmers. Groundwork Market GardenGroundwork Market Garden is a two-acre USDA Certified Organic urban farm on Buffalo’s East Side, growing food in the city since 2015. Co-founders and co-owners Mayda Pozantides and Anders Gunnersen built the farm from vacant lots into a working operation with a farm stand, CSA and wholesale customers. Way Fruit FarmSixth-generation family-owned Way Fruit Farm has been part of Centre County’s agricultural community since 1826, growing from an orchard planted with a wedding gift of 1,000 apple trees in 1872. Today, Jason and Megan Coopey run the Halfmoon Valley farm, whose harvest reaches neighbors through its farm store and café while its seasonal events keep the property a gathering place.
