Founded in Glenville in 1988, Starfire Systems develops specialty materials that transform polymers into high-temperature ceramics through its Polymer-to-Ceramic technology. Its silicon carbide-forming chemistry, including the flagship SMP-10, supplied material for NASA’s NOAX repair system used on subsequent Space Shuttle missions. The company also produces specialty silane fine chemicals and continues developing ceramic precursors for demanding applications such as hypersonic and re-entry vehicle components.
