For 34 years, Pittsburgh-based Teletrix has made simulation systems for radiation and gas-detection training, allowing instructors to recreate realistic readings and hazardous scenarios without live sources, calibration gases, or exposure. Its work ranges from remotely controlled replicas of field instruments to VIZRAD, which combines a mannequin and virtual contamination for objective frisking practice. Teletrix is also partnering with Oak Ridge National Laboratory on VIZRAD AR, an augmented-reality system that lets trainees visualize simulated radiation in physical spaces.
