Founded in 2005 by petroleum engineer Todd Hawkins, Massillon-based Tesla NanoCoatings manufactures TESLAN® carbon-nanotube protective coatings for steel assets in offshore, marine and midstream environments. Its patented CNT technology enables a two-coat, wet-on-wet system designed to replace conventional three-coat applications, and more than 1.5 million square feet of Gulf of Mexico assets were protected with TESLAN® by early 2023 without recorded coating replacements. The company also authored the 2015 ASM Handbook on carbon nanocoating technology and received Materials Performance’s 2022 Innovation of the Year award.
