Started in late 2017 by three Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute students, The Factory Amsterdam is a Latham manufacturing shop that produces prototypes and production parts through CNC turning and SLS 3D printing. Owner and founding member Brad Matheus now runs the 2,400-square-foot facility with a focus on automation, using software-monitored equipment designed for 18 to 24 hours of unattended production. His manufacturing roots reach back to age 13, when he began making foam-dart-blaster parts on a benchtop lathe.
