Since 1934, The Wyeth-Scott Company has hand-built its More Power Puller portable ratchet winches in Newark, Ohio. The small manufacturer traces its roots to 1906, became wholly owned by Amy Kent in 2005, and now has five people making and supporting the company’s single product, including versions with steel cable or AmSteel-Blue synthetic rope. Wyeth-Scott handles the work in-house—from preparing ductile-iron castings to assembling and painting each puller—and keeps parts available for models that may be decades old.
