From a Brooklyn workshop, Tri-Lox turns reclaimed and regionally sourced wood into architectural surfaces and custom-fabricated elements, pairing material research with design and craft. Its circular approach gives materials such as old-growth timbers, decommissioned New York City water towers, and salvaged urban trees a second life while supporting Northeast forests and local manufacturing. Tri-Lox’s products are Forest Stewardship Council and Sustainable Forestry Initiative certified.

• M. Fine LumberFamily-run since 1933, M. Fine Lumber is a Brooklyn company known for giving salvaged wood a second life. It works with architects, designers, and the public, reclaiming timber from old local structures and preparing it for new projects while preserving its age and character.BROOKLYN, NY
• Fallen IndustryFallen Industry is a Brooklyn-based sustainable design studio that handcrafts custom live-edge furniture and architectural elements from fallen trees and reclaimed wood. Founded by New York artist Paul Kruger, the studio grew from his 2008 practice of turning discarded Hudson River driftwood into sculpture and furniture. Materials are sourced locally and from fallen trees around the country, then shaped into one-of-a-kind work at the Brooklyn design studio and wood shop.BROOKLYN, NY
• Peter H. Billow Fine Woodworking, LLCFor more than 30 years, Peter H. Billow Fine Woodworking has brought a deep appreciation for distinctive wood to projects across the New York area. • Upstate Crafts WoodworkingAt its Verona, New York shop, Upstate Crafts Woodworking turns locally sourced hardwoods and reclaimed timbers into one-of-a-kind custom furniture and small wood goods. Its work pairs raw Appalachian character with modern function, using traditional joinery and material-first design for pieces built to be repaired and refinished rather than replaced. The shop also hand-turns distinctive writing instruments from reclaimed bourbon and Scotch barrel wood.ROME, NY
