Founded by Peter P. Cappas in the Chicago suburbs in 1963, United Engravers makes flexographic printing plates for corrugated packaging and supports them with prepress, mounting, and digital print services. The family-run business is now led by the second and third generations of the Cappas family, producing more than 200,000 pounds of photopolymer annually and maintaining mounting specifications for over 1,000 corrugated partners across North America. Its Schaumburg operation also emphasizes material recovery, including solvent distillation that reclaims 95% of solvents and a liquid platemaking process washed with soap and water.
