On the shore of Seneca Lake, US Salt has produced evaporated granulated salt in Watkins Glen since 1893. The company supplies food-grade and USP salt under both branded and private labels, while also serving water-treatment and industrial customers. Its plant uses a multiple-effect vacuum-pan process, with brine drawn from a rich underground salt bed beneath the Finger Lakes site.
