Founded in 2011, Baltimore-based US Wind develops offshore wind projects in Maryland’s federal waters, including a lease area spanning 80,000 acres off Ocean City. The company is also establishing Sparrows Point Steel, a permanent offshore wind manufacturing facility at the former Bethlehem Steel site that will make monopile foundations and other steel components. US Wind’s federal Construction and Operations Plan was approved by BOEM in 2024, advancing projects with the potential to power more than 600,000 homes in the region.
