Born in Ed Hess’s West Philadelphia basement in 1944, West Philadelphia Machine Works is a third-generation, family-managed machine shop in Elverson that designs and machines parts and assemblies from prototypes through production runs. The Hess family has grown the business from a small lathe and mill into a 13,000-square-foot climate-controlled facility, while retaining its hands-on customer support and design-assistance approach. WPMW also manufactures cut-to-length lines specifically for the truck and trailer body industry.
