Works Electric grew from Brad Baker’s makeshift machine shop on Portland’s southeast side into a hands-on West Linn workshop shaped by its owner’s work as a mechanical engineer, machinist and master TIG welder. Baker still primarily builds each vehicle himself, with every Rover receiving at least 40 hours of careful attention before it leaves the shop. The company also brings that same individualized approach to lithium battery upgrades for RV owners.

• Advanced RVFounded near Cleveland in 2012 by engineer and traveler Mike Neundorfer, Advanced RV hand-builds fully custom Class B motorhomes around each owner’s way of traveling. Its roughly 45-person team works under one roof in an 85,000-square-foot facility, where designers, engineers and craftspeople build and support vehicles ranging from off-grid travel homes to mobile workspaces.
