Sal and Lina Alvaro built this Harrisburg bakery around Calabria-born family recipes and a lifelong dream of preserving the food of home. Their family restored a once-condemned former general store into the Olde Uptown shop, a project recognized with the Historic Harrisburg Association’s 2005 Excellence in Historic Preservation Award. Alvaro continues that tradition with scratch-made Italian baking for the neighborhood and Central Pennsylvania.
