Founded in Buffalo in 1942, privately held and still family-owned Curbell has grown from a small machine shop into an Orchard Park-based manufacturer with two distinct businesses: Curbell Plastics supplies plastic materials nationwide, while Curbell Medical makes signaling devices and accessories for hospitals and nursing homes. The company is particularly known for the “pillow speakers” that evolved from its work on General Electric hospital televisions, and today employs more than 700 people across its operations. Curbell has also built a notable sustainability program, achieving zero-landfill status at its Western New York facilities.
