Founded in 2016 through the NEXUS-NY energy incubator, Ducted Wind Turbines develops and builds small distributed wind turbines in Potsdam, New York. Its D3 turbine uses a ducted design licensed from Clarkson University, where the company’s technical work began, to produce more energy than a conventional open-rotor turbine of the same size. DWT has installed units at farms, campuses, and commercial sites across Upstate New York and has shipped one to the United Kingdom.
