For more than 20 years, artist Brenda Veeman and technician Mike Kosonic have combined their skills at Dynamic Surfaces Art Studios to create handmade tile and commissioned artwork. The studio’s work ranges from custom raku and porcelain tile to murals and large-format paintings, drawing inspiration from art history, nature, wildlife and sacred geometry. After relocating from Cambridge, Ontario, the pair established the studio in Restoule in 2012.
New York TilemakersFounded by artist and longtime contractor Andru Eron, New York Tilemakers handcrafts art tiles and produces custom mosaic murals in its Long Island City, Queens studio. Every tile is made in New York City from locally sourced clay and lead-free glazes, with small-batch, made-to-order work that preserves the irregular character of handmade ceramics. The studio has fabricated and installed major murals for New York City public schools and LaGuardia Airport, including a 21-by-21-foot installation made with more than 1,500 subway tiles.LONG ISLAND CITY, NY
DeLong CeramicsIn Williamsburg, Brooklyn, DeLong Ceramics makes hand-crafted ceramic art and gift pieces alongside printed collage artwork, all designed by Denise DeLong and her family. The studio’s work often turns New York City landmarks and everyday scenes into textured tiles, ornaments, coasters and signed collage prints, while custom tile projects have included public art for PS 398 Queens.
