Founded in 1989, Environmental Protection Services in Wheeling handles the disposal and recycling of transformers, electrical equipment and dielectric oil, including materials with high PCB contamination. Its 50,000-square-foot facility houses a custom furnace described as the nation’s largest, while the company’s PCBX process has reclaimed more than 100 million gallons of oil. EPS is also an EPA-approved PCB disposal and storage facility and dispatches crews nationwide for substation equipment removal, including the dismantling of two 2-million-pound transformers.
