Since 1950, Bethlehem Apparatus has built its business around recovering, recycling and retiring mercury and mercury-bearing waste. Its Hellertown mercury campus spans more than 150,000 square feet and includes 25 high-vacuum retorts, a continuous-feed retort and eight quadruple-distillation systems, giving the company capacity to process more than 200 types of waste. Bethlehem is also a domestic supplier of quadruple-distilled high-purity mercury and operates the only mercury treatment permit in the United States.
