Founded in 1997 through a public-private partnership, Hanwha Philly Shipyard builds and sustains commercial and government vessels at Philadelphia’s historic Navy Yard. Since 2000, the shipyard says it has delivered nearly half of all large, ocean-going Jones Act vessels built in the United States, including ships supporting domestic commerce and national maritime readiness. Now part of Hanwha Group, it also operates a three-year paid apprenticeship program to develop the skilled workforce behind American shipbuilding.
