Baltimore’s HILGARTNER Natural Stone Company traces its roots to 1863, when Ludwig Hilgartner and Gottfried Schimpf formed a stone company that grew into a longstanding local institution. After more than 150 years in the trade, HILGARTNER is especially known for preserving the skilled marble-finishing craft through its state-accredited apprenticeship program and for restoring historic stonework with traditional artisan knowledge.
